Teamie, a social mobile learning platform in Asia Pacific, has recently secured S$1.5 million (US$1.1 million) in its pre-Series A funding. ACP, a Singapore-based venture capital firm, together with Spring Seeds Capital, led the pre-Series A investment round along with investments from Phystech Ventures and an angel investor.

Teamie will use the new funds to build on its early successes, grow the team and drive partnerships to offer local delivery and support in both the education and enterprise segments across Asia Pacific.

The funds will also be allocated for research and development to build new capabilities and deeper learning analytics to create a personalised learning experience and further improve user-engagement and learning outcomes.

Teamie aims to consolidate its position as the regional player in the next two to three years, disrupting traditional learning platforms with solutions that will increase learner and instructor engagement and productivity. ACP and Phystech Ventures see Asia Pacific as a high growth market for both education institutions and enterprises.

“We believe that we learn better when we learn together. Social platforms have become the de-facto mode of communication, and together with smartphones and cloud computing, they have changed how we live, work, play and learn. Our customers leverage on the Teamie platform to complement and, in some cases, transform their teaching and learning practices to make learning engaging and collaborative with a 21st century learning experience that goes beyond the classroom,” said Shivanu Shukla, Co-Founder and CEO of Teamie, in a press statement.
