#Asia Nexus infuses US$2.5M into India’s conversational commerce app Goodbox

The startup allows businesses to create a commerce-ready store within a short time that provides discovery, ordering and payment

Goodbox, a conversational commerce mobile app in India, has secured $2.5 million in Series A round of funding from Nexus Venture Partners. It will use the money for merchant acquisition and building the team.

The company had earlier raised seed funding from the Manipal Group, Aprameya Radhakrishna (Co-founder TaxiForSure) and Charan Padmaraju (Co-founder of redBus).

The startup was founded in 2012 by a group of entrepreneurs, including Abey Zachariah (ex-redBus core team), Anand Kelaginamani (IIM Bangalore), Charan Raj (ex-Accenture), Mahesh Herle (ex-National Instruments), Mayank Bidawatka (ex-redBus core team and Co-founder of The Media Ant), Mohit Maheshwari (IIM Bangalore) and Nithin Chandra (IIM Bangalore).

Goodbox allows businesses to create a store on its mobile app that resembles the physical environment, where the merchant can chat with their customers, upload their product/services catalog for search and discovery, take orders, accept payments and get logistics support.Goodbox-logo

It claims to significantly improve the customer experience by integrating e-commerce capabilities with messaging and with time saving features for quick or repeat orders. Customers can buy from and pay their trusted businesses through one window and reduce app fatigue of having to download multiple apps for multiple things.

Goodbox is live in Bangalore with over 1,200 merchants, that include supermarkets, restaurants, laundry chains, rental providers, movers & packers, canteens and salons.
