SMINQ India Solutions, a Pune-based startup providing real-time queue information on mobile, has secured US$1 million in funding from Saama Capital and Blume Ventures.

Angel investor Vaibhav Domkundwar of micro-venture firm Better Inc has also co-invested.

“We have been in the market for close to year now, and see a very good product market fit for SMINQ. We are already generating revenues and have seen great traction when it comes to user engagement with the app. We plan to use the funds to get more services on SMINQ and also improve our technology offering,” Co-founder and CEO Shachin Bharadwaj said.

SMINQ (acronym for ‘See Me In No Queue’) was co-founded in July 2015 by Shachin Bharadwaj, Co-founder and former CEO of TastyKhana (which was acquired by foodpanda in 2014), along with two friends.

Don’t miss this: At the age of 3, he made combustion engine model. He’s now 7 and has already built a cleaning robot and a remote-controlled vehicle

A mobile app, SMINQ gives you real-time queue information on your mobile while you wait, making the wait totally transparent. It removes the need to be physically present to hold your spot.

The startup is currently working with clinics and has 40-plus paying doctors using its app in Pune. It currently charges doctors a fee to be listed on SMINQ and drives 6000-pus user bookings a month to their clients.

The company also sees opportunities in the the banking and restaurants industries.

SMINQ’s vision is to build an availability search engine, which will help users book appointments across businesses.

Suresh Shanmugham, Cofounder and Managing Partner of Saama Capital, said: “The SMINQ team and its technology have successfully proven how waiting in physical queues can be eliminated in the medical consulting space. Extension of this value-added service in other prospective areas will open up vast business opportunities for SMINQ.”

Sanjay Nath from Blume Ventures said: “SMINQ’s technology solves a very fundamental problem – saving time and thus making people more efficient. The inefficiencies and hassles of “waiting and hoping” are particularly acute in India, but the market opportunity is global.”
