SPOT allows you to send an alert in case of an emergency or when the user moves out of safety zone to a set of pre-saved contacts

SPOTWildcraft, a leading outdoor gear, apparel and footwear company in India, has launched an GPS-based location tracking device called SPOT that allows you to check the location of your loved ones via a mobile app.

A portable device, SPOT can be worn on the wrist as a band or hooked onto your backpack via a clip.

SPOT comes as a kit, which contains a wireless magnetic USB charger, a silicon wrist strap, a clip holder to clip it on backpacks, and a pin for power on/off and the user manual detailing on the guidelines to use the product and enjoy it’s features.

The device features an SOS button that allows the user to send an alert in case of an emergency to pre-saved contacts. It also has a Safety Zone feature, which allows the user to determine a safety perimeter of up to 2 kms. If the device moves out of this Safety Zone, a notification will be sent to the pre-set contact numbers.

SPOT comes with a dual mode technology, GPS + LBS enabling accuracy of up to 10 meters. It is functional through a SIM card which enables the upload and recording of location data real time or at intervals of a few hours, as selected by the user. It’s connected to an app which is available on iOS and Android platforms.

The device can be used in schools where mobile phone usage is restricted. But the device allows outbound voice calling which is useful in case you need to get in touch urgently.

The product is available at INR 5995 (approximately US$90).Wildcraft_Spot

“The launch of SPOT is a first step into the exciting arena of wearable. It fits right into our ambition of equipping travellers on their adventures. By allowing you to see the location of your loved ones, SPOT takes away the stress of not knowing where they are if they’ve been out of touch. We’ve got a host of parents expressing interest in the device from a safety standpoint – what better way to let your kids roam free without you worrying,” says Gaurav Dublish, Director of Wildcraft.

Bangalore-based Wildcraft makes jackets, shoes, rucksacks, sleeping bags, tents and travel accessories for trekking, camping and other outdoor pursuits. The firm has 140 exclusive stores and over 3,000 multi-branded stores in over 500 cities.

Recently, two entrepreneurs came up with a wearable device called SantWatch that allows parents and kids to speak with each other, stay connected, send security alerts when in need, share fun voice messages, let parents remotely monitor their kids at the slightest hint of danger, and let parents track their kids. All in a feature packed safety and care solution.
