Sheroes.in, an online community for jobs and careers for women in India, has raised US$1.8 million in Series A round of funding led by Lumis Partners.

The HR Fund, along with existing investor Quintillion Media, besides a few other angel investors, also participated in the round.

The funds will be used to improve technology, hire people and grow the business.

The funding comes exactly a year after the startup secured an undisclosed amount in angel funding from 500 Startups and Quintillion Media in August last year. Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Google India Chief Rajan Anandan, Flipkart Co-founder Binny Bansal and the then Chief People Officer Mekin Maheshwari, Freshdesk CEO Girish Mathrubhootham, Oracle’s Indus Khaitan and Capillary Technologies Founder Krishna Mehra had also participated in the round.

Sheroes is a career destination for women in India. It offers a large ‘OpportunityScape’ for women seeking options at various life stages. The portal offers a diverse range of engagement formats to women, including corporate jobs, returning professionals programmes, partner programmes, work from home jobs, part-time work, freelancing, franchising, mompreneur programmes and internship programmes.

It partners actively with the startup ecosystem to enhance entrepreneurial connect to women. The Sheroes community has access to high-growth career resources, mentorship and support. It engages with businesses to help them connect with female talent in the form of employees, partners, customers and business owners.

As of last year, over 6,000 companies used Sheroes to be connected with talented women professionals.
