Uber, started in 2009, inspired many an entrepreneur across the world to plunge into the on-demand taxi-hailing domain. From Ola to TaxiForSure and Didi Kuaidi to Lyft, Uber witnessed its ideas being ‘hijacked’ by smart people in India, China, and Europe, and most of these are successful and have got backings from prominent VC investors, such as Tiger Global, Accel Partners, Rakuten, Sequoia and SoftBank. What’s more, many of these copy-cats are now members of the so-called Unicorn Club.
