There are no shortage of car startups looking to take on Tesla and the Germans with a luxury electric sedan, but Lucid is arguably one of the most credible.

The California-based, China-funded outfit just hit a new milestone as the Lucid Air topped 217 mph (349 kph) in a test track run.
