Remco Lupker founded classified ads site Tokobagus in 2007 and turned it into the biggest player in the sector before his exit in 2012

Jakarta-based online C2C marketplace for second-handed goods Jualo announced that they have appointed Remco Lupker as Senior Industrial Advisor. Lupker is previously known as the founder of Tokobagus, which was acquired by Jualo’s competitor OLX.
“We conducted an exhaustive search for someone who has the ability and experience to propel Jualo to the front seat of the online market for secondhand goods. Remco is considered the pioneer in this field, he couldn’t be a more perfect fit!” said Chaim Fetter, founder of Jualo, in a statement.
Speaking on his decision to join Jualo, Lupker said,
“Having spent some time looking closely at Jualo, we have identified several points for improvement, especially in technology and marketing, that will make the team stronger. That’s great news because it means we can make some big steps forward in a relatively short time. We’re in the process of adding to our team with some very strong people and improving the product from all angles.”

Lupker brings 20 years of experience in online businesses, and will try to use his experience from running the largest e-classifieds and e-commerce platform to help Jualo achieve its ambition to become a leader in Indonesia’s C2C online marketplace sector.
He founded Tokobagus in 2007 with co-founder Arnold Egg, who is now CTO of Lippo Group. Tokobagus was acquired by global online marketplace OLX in 2014; OLX then merged with Tokobagus’ biggest competitor Berniaga in early 2015, making it the biggest player in the sector at the moment.
Jualo itself recently announced that it has received Series A funding from NSI Ventures and Alpha JWC Ventures.
