Almost nobody likes looking at ads, but they might be a little more acceptable if you were getting paid for it.
Australian startup Unlockd wants to offer customers real monetary value for time spent with advertising. On Wednesday, the company announced it had secured a deal with U.S. mobile provider Boost Mobile, a Sprint Telecom company, to do just that.
If one of Boost Mobile’s 9 million users chooses to be shown an ad when unlocking their Android smartphone, they will have the chance to take US$5 (A$7) off their monthly phone bill. The ad could include a geo-targeted offer or branded content that Unlockd will attempt to tailor to the user’s interests. Read more…
