The war between Airbnb and the U.S. hotel industry heated up this week as representatives from both groups descended on a prominent conference and went to head-to-head in a battle of words and data.

Chris Lehane, the former top political adviser to Bill Clinton who joined Airbnb as head of global policy last year, is scheduled to make the case for Airbnb as a positive force for local communities during an appearance Thursday at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C
