#Africa Kenya’s Moringa School expands with MEST partnership

//

Kenyan coding training programme Moringa School has expanded across Africa through a partnership with pan-African entrepreneurial training program, seed fund, and incubator the MEST Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST).

The partnership will see MEST offer Moringa School’s technology training courses in all regions where it operates, which includes its incubators in Cape Town, Lagos and Accra. With the entry of Moringa School into new markets, aspiring technologists will receive access to their 20-week programme and career placement services.

“Moringa is a market leader in developing tech talent in Africa, and we are excited to work with them as they continue with a pan-African expansion,” said Aaron Fu, MEST Africa’s managing director. “Our mission is to to unlock resources within the African tech space through a pan-African network, and working with Moringa to develop tech talent in various parts of the continent is right in the middle of that.”

Moringa, which started operations in April 2014 in Nairobi, had already expanded its offering in Hong Kong and Ghana, and recently launched in Pakistan through a partnership with the World Bank. The MEST partnership will enable the programme to gain a foothold in West, and Southern Africa, and get to leverage both current and future MEST facilities to expand its courses across the continent.

“We are excited to launch across Africa with an incredible partner like MEST,” said Audrey Cheng, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Moringa School. “With this partnership, we will be able to train more world-class developers and continue to transform economies across the continent.”

MEST will also receive access to the Moringa alumni network and community to recruit for its Accra-based programme. Every year, it selects 60 aspiring entrepreneurs from Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Ivory Coast to join the programme.
