Nigerian schools management app VeriCampus has secured EUR57,000 (US$60,825) from French investment bank BPI France, to enable the startup’s expansion to France and across francophone Africa.

VeriCampus is a mobile solution for schools aimed at improving the on-campus and off-campus experience of all its stakeholders through their mobile devices.

School management can send out announcements to teachers, students and parents. Teachers can post assignments and study material for students to access, and communicate with parents; while students can access school material from home, and look up opportunities, scholarships and grants – among a range of other functions.

In addition to the app’s core functions, VeriCampus recently launched VeriCampus Live – a twice monthly session delivered over Facebook Live, which invites thought leaders in the education sector to share their learnings, insight and best practices with other members of the education community across the world.

The aim of the Live video series is to assist institutions in the development and implementation of policies and technologies which will assist in creating better access, quality and relevance in education.

VeriCampus has also now announced it has secured EUR57,000 (US$60,825) in a first tranche of seed funding from BPI France.

“The funds will be used majorly for consolidating our presence in existing markets, minor product upgrades and lastly, initial business development efforts in France and francophone Africa,” Seun Owolabi, founder of VeriCampus told Disrupt Africa.

The startup is in the process of launching pilots in schools in France, and making plans for expansion into francophone Africa.
