The second Startup Weekend Bali closed on Sunday with mental health app Design My Day announced as winner. The three-day annual event was held at Hubud co-working space in Ubud with 80 participants from 25 countries, 20 per cent of them being Indonesian citizens.

Within 54 hours, participants formed teams to work on ideas, developed a working prototype under the guidance of mentors and coaches and presented the ideas in front of judges.

On the first day, 28 ideas were pitched by participants, with 11 of them selected for further development.

The winning team is Bali-based Design My Day, an app that helps people living with depression and loneliness schedule their day. Users can search for and plan fun and meaningful activities to help brighten their day, and can help others achieve the same through its suggestion feature.

Coming in second and third place were Meander App — an app to connect people in transit — and Bitcoin for Wi-Fi, a service for low-cost Wi-Fi system.

Other notable participants are Asuransama, a peer-to-peer network to help people with their insurance, and No More Strangers, an app that connects people commuting to work.
